Boys And Girls With Their Feet In The Pool
For every level of Learn-to-Swim, our instructors follow a plan to introduce new swimming and water safety skills and build on previously learned skills and techniques. Each class is loaded with fun, engaging, and challenging activities that motivate children to want and learn to swim. Certain milestones are necessary for the successful completion of each level.  

What level is appropriate for my swimmer?




  • If your child has not taken swim lessons at the Ginny Smithers Pool within the past six months, please have them take a level test during Ginny Smithers Pool family swim before registering for any level above level 1. Reservations are not needed.


  • If your child has taken swimming lessons at the Ginny Smithers Pool within the last six months, please register for the same level they last took, unless a swim instructor has informed an adult to register for a higher or lower level.





Fees per session: Somerville residents $45, Non-Somerville residents $55

Levels 1-4 Summer Sessions: 1 session meets every weekday (Monday-Friday) for a one-week. 
Session 1:  June 27 - July 1
Session 2:  July 11- 15
Session 3:  July 18- 22
Session 4:  July 25- 29
Session 5:  August 1 - 5
Session 6:  August 8-12


Additional Information:




  • Children’s swim lessons meet every weekday (Monday-Friday) for a one-week session. The session dates are above.


  • You may sign up for as many weeks as you would like at any point once registration has begun.


  • Children must be at least 4 years old to register for level 1-4 lessons.


  • Level 1 is primarily taught in the small pool and Levels 2, 3, and 4 are taught in the lap pool


  • All levels are 45 minutes.


  • When the class begins we require all parents to proceed to the balcony where they remain for the duration of the class. You may not leave the premises.





Times:
Level 1: 9:15am or 10:15am or 4:15pm or 5:15pm
Level 2: 9:15am or 10:15am or 5:15pm
Level 3: 10:15am or 5:15pm
Level 4: 10:15am or 5:15pm
