Intramural Introduction to Competitive Swimming

Intramural Team: Introduction to Competitive Swimming SPS Grades 3-8

Mondays & Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 May 16, 2022- June 15, 2022. 

Come to learn and experience:
- 4 competitive swim strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly
- Turns, starts, reading a pace clock, creating & reading a swim workout, circle swimming, swim drills and swimming etiquette
- A mock swim meet

To register:
1. The swimmer must first come to the Ginny Smithers Pool (formerly the Kenney Pool) for a swim test tryout. You can come anytime during a family swim without a reservation. Family swim times are listed on the website.
- Swim test tryout: able to safely swim 2 lengths of the lap pool freestyle and 1 length backstroke
2. Register at somervillerec.com

What to bring: 
- Bathing suit
- Goggles
- Swimming cap or hair pulled back into a ponytail, face mask, ziplock bag
