Teen Volunteer Program: Entrepreneurship & Community Impact
Somerville Parks and Recreation is partnering with Give a Cake Bakery to offer a 6-week volunteer and entrepreneurship program for teens in grades 7–12.
Wednesdays from October 15 to November 19
2:30 to 4:00 PM
169 Holland St, Room 203M
This unique program combines entrepreneurship lessons with hands-on community service. Teens will explore what it takes to start a business or nonprofit, gain leadership experience, and participate in projects that spread joy throughout the Somerville community. Over the course of the program, participants will learn the basics of entrepreneurship and social impact while making and packaging treats that will be delivered to local organizations in need such as shelters, assisted living facilities, and community fridges. No baking experience is required — the program focuses on creative, no-bake and simple treat-making.
By the end of the program, teens will have earned up to 9 certified volunteer hours, received a certificate of completion, and celebrated their accomplishments together.
Because space is limited, volunteers will be selected. When you register, your teen will automatically be placed on the waitlist. Families should keep an eye out for an acceptance email once the 2025 Teen Volunteer Team is confirmed, latest the email will be sent is October 3.
